You need a first-pass plate-compactor class before buying. Enter the target published compaction force in pounds. The calculator names the smallest class - 1,920, 2,360, or 4,440 lb - that clears that force, or returns NO_MATCH. It is not a geotechnical compaction test.
Why force matters more than HP alone
Engine horsepower and published centrifugal force both appear on listings. Matching the force you need to published force ratings avoids buying a loud engine that still under-delivers on force.

When the answer is NO_MATCH
If the target exceeds 4,440 lb, this site returns NO_MATCH. Typical next steps: a larger reversible plate, a jumping-jack rammer, or a roller outside this screen.
